Custom Fitting
Fitted outdoors, with real ball flight
A fitting bay hitting straight down our own range, TrackMan on every shot, and manufacturer support from five of the biggest names in golf. You see the ball fly. We see the numbers. Nobody has to guess.
Custom fitting is free of charge to members of Minchinhampton Golf Club.
Members
Free of charge
Full-bag, iron, wood and wedge fitting costs members nothing. Come in, get measured properly, and decide about equipment afterwards — there is no fee riding on whether you buy.
Putter fitting
£65
The one exception. A Performance Putting Analysis is charged because it is a specialist session in a specialist studio — an hour with SAM PuttLab, the Zen Green Stage and the full fitting putter library.
Visitors
Welcome too
You do not need to be a member to be fitted here. Give the shop a ring, tell us what you are looking at, and we will sort something out.
Brands
Fully supported by five manufacturers
Manufacturer-supported fitting means the real fitting carts, the current shaft matrix and the full custom options — not a demo club and a hope.
Picking clubs off the rack means accepting somebody else’s averages — their length, their lie, their shaft weight, their loft gaps. It is the most expensive guess in golf.
Because we are a supported fitter for all five, we can compare across brands in the same session, on the same ball flight, with the same numbers. The recommendation you leave with is not shaped by what happens to be in stock.
Nick Haile is a TaylorMade Staff Ambassador, TPI Level 2 certified and trained by every brand we fit — so the conversation covers your body and your swing, not just the club.
The process
How a fitting runs
The aim is not clubs that feel nice for an hour. It is a set that still fits you in three years’ time.
Assessment and static measurements
What you play now, how it performs, and what you want from the change. Static measurements set a starting length and lie, then we verify them against real strike and launch on TrackMan.
Weight, flex and shaft
Swing length, tempo and your ability to centre the strike decide graphite or steel; speed and delivery decide flex and weight. Head and shaft combinations are tested on distance and dispersion — because the tightest grouping usually wins the golf match.
Set make-up and gapping
We check the gaps between every club, replace long irons with hybrids where the numbers say so, and set wedge lofts to fill the holes rather than repeat them.
Grips, the build, and a check on arrival
Grip style, size and material chosen with you, then the order goes in. Every club is measured against spec in our own workshop when it arrives.
If it is not right, we put it right
Your fitting data stays on file. If the clubs are not doing what they should once you have played them, come and find us — we will pull up the numbers from your fitting, check whether anything in your technique has shifted since, and work out the right answer between us. Sometimes that is an adjustment, sometimes it is a rethink. Either way we get to the bottom of it.

Everything checked before it reaches you
New clubs are measured against the spec sheet when they arrive. Anything we adjust or repair is measured before it goes back in your bag. Same bench, same person, either way.
