Minchinhampton Performance Putting Centre

The most measured hour in golf

Roughly 40% of your shots are putts. Almost none of them are struck with a putter that has been fitted to you. Our studio combines a moving green, stroke analysis, overhead projection and a full fitting putter library — a combination shared by only a handful of centres in the country.

Every session is run by Nick Haile, a SAM PuttLab Level 2 certified putting coach and fitter.

The problem

A flat mat tells you almost nothing

Every putter you have ever tried, you tried on a flat surface. But you don’t putt on a flat surface. On a real green the slope changes where you aim, how you release the putter and where the ball starts — and a putter that behaves beautifully on the flat can fall apart on a left-to-right six-footer.

So we took the flat mat out of the equation.

Fitted on the slopes you actually putt on, with the numbers to prove it.

Inside the studio

Four technologies, working together

Individually, each of these is a serious piece of equipment. Together they let us do something almost no one else can.

Zen Green Stage

Moving green

Zen Green Stage

A putting surface that moves independently at all four corners to build real slope — up to 6.5% up and down, 9% left to right, accurate to ±0.1%. Planar, double and compound breaks, on ultra-true turf running at stimp 11.5. Whatever putt you keep missing on the course, we can build it here and put you on it.

SAM PuttLab

Stroke analysis

SAM PuttLab

The system tour players use, measuring more than 50 parameters of your stroke — face angle at address, impact and through-swing, path, rhythm, consistency and impact spot. It turns "you pull it a bit" into a number, and shows which putter design corrects it.

Overhead projection

Projection

Overhead projection

Your aim and predicted start line projected onto the green before the ball moves, adjusted automatically for the gradient you are standing on. You see exactly where you are pointed, exactly where the ball will set off, and exactly how far apart those two things are.

Down-the-line cameras

Cameras

Down-the-line cameras

Set-up, eye position, shaft lean and stroke shape captured from the line you play along, so posture and alignment are fitted alongside the putter itself. You leave with the footage.

A full selection of fitting putters

Blades, mid-mallets and mallets across head weights, lofts, lies, lengths, toe hangs and grip styles — tested on the same slope, with the same numbers, until one of them is measurably better than the rest.

Then we order yours to those specs from Scotty Cameron, Odyssey, Ping, TaylorMade or Cleveland. The fitting isn’t advice you have to take somewhere else — the putter you were fitted for is the putter you can buy.

The session

What actually happens

A Performance Putting Analysis, run by Nick Haile.

Baseline on your own putter

We start with the putter in your bag and a full SAM PuttLab capture, so everything that follows is measured against where you are today — not against a tour average.

Fit the golfer, then the club

Length, lie, eye position and posture come first, on camera. Get these wrong and no head shape in the world will save the putt.

Head, weight and hang on real slope

We build the breaks you struggle with on the Zen Green Stage and work through the fitting library — head style, weight, loft, toe hang — watching start line and face control on the projection as the slope changes.

Grip, and the final spec

Grip size and style change how much your hands do in the stroke, so they are fitted, not guessed. You leave with a written spec sheet, your numbers and your camera footage.

Order and check

Your putter is ordered to that spec and checked against it when it arrives. Bring it back in and we will re-measure the stroke with it in your hands.

Options

One hour, or two

Both sessions use the full studio. The two-hour version gives us room to rebuild the stroke as well as the equipment.
